Nottingham would not have been the most likely destination for people to Emigrate from Ireland, but, partly because of the Lace and Linen trades being well established in Ireland there has been workers from those sectors Moving from Ireland to Nottingham for a long time.
And, even after the ending of these industries, there is still a large population of Irish decendants that have made Nottingham their home.

One of the many attractions of the City of Nottingham is it's famouns Goose Fair, which has been established as far back as the 13th Century, which would then have included geese being herded all the way from Lincolnshire to a popular produce fair.

Although it is still going and held every year, it has now been moved from the city centre market square to the Forest Recreation Ground and it is now one of the largest Fairground Rides Fairs in the country, although there is no longer any sign of any geese at the fair!
